Property Tax Burden is Rising — We Need Real Leadership

Rooted in our community. Committed to action

Keval Shah understands that Brampton is at a crossroads. As a resident of Wards 2 & 6, he sees firsthand the challenges of rising costs and safety concerns. He isn't just running for a seat; he's running to be the voice that has been missing at City Hall.

With a professional background in problem-solving and community service, Keval is focused on delivering measurable results. His vision is a Brampton where families feel safe, seniors are respected, and taxpayers get the value they deserve.

The Ward 2 & 6 Advantage

Our wards are the heartbeat of Brampton. This ward will see the highest development in the coming decade, and we need leadership that ensures our infrastructure keeps pace with our growth.

  • ✓ 100% Focused on Local Ward Issues
  • ✓ Direct Accessibility for Residents
  • ✓ Proactive Development Planning
~$837M Police Spending

Despite paying massive annual sums, response times lag and residents still don't feel safe

15% 3-Years Budget Hike

The Police budget has increased significantly over the past 3 years with an average 15.06% increase annually with little change on our streets.

5 Years Hospital Delay

Approved in 2021, yet as of May 2026, no major development has materialized at Peel Memorial

58 New City Hires

Additional employees will be hired solely to administer the RRL program, further increasing the financial burden on residents.

Bold Solutions for a Growing Brampton

💰

Property Tax Control

Stopping the uncontrolled rise of property taxes. The city claims a 0% increase, but your actual bill says otherwise.

The Facts & The Fix +
The Problem: Brampton residents are frequently told property tax increases are 0%, yet final tax bills often reflect significant jumps due to shifts in regional levies and internal city spending.

Keval's Solution: I will push for a **Value for Money Audit** across all city departments. We must fix the spending problem at its root rather than asking for more from your wallet every year.
🚔

Safety & Auto Theft

Over 5,280 motor vehicle thefts and 2,815 break-and-enter incidents were reported in Peel Region in 2025 — crimes that continue to impact the safety and peace of our communities.

The Facts & The Fix +
The Problem: Brampton sees more than 5 vehicles stolen every single day. Even more concerning is the growing fear around home invasions and the safety of families in their own homes.

Keval's Solution: We need more officers on the road patrolling our neighborhoods, rather than behind desks at headquarters. We need a redistribution of our $837M police budget to prioritize frontline safety.
👵

Lower or No Property Tax for Seniors

I am proposing a Lower Or Full Property Tax Exemption for principal residents aged 65 and over with a family income below $50,000 per year.

The Facts & The Fix +
The Problem: Our community builders are being taxed out of their own homes. Seniors on fixed incomes cannot keep up with the rising cost of living in Brampton.

Keval's Solution: I am proposing a Lower Or Full Property Tax Exemption for seniors (65+) for their principal residence, provided their total family income is below $50,000 pa. We must protect our seniors from displacement.
🏥

Healthcare & The Hospital

Demanding immediate construction on the Peel Memorial expansion. Approved in 2021, yet still no major progress in 2026.

The Facts & The Fix +
The Problem: The expansion of Peel Memorial was approved in 2021, but the project remains stagnant while wait times at Brampton Civic continue to be among the worst in Ontario.

Keval's Solution: I will demand construction start immediately with strict Turnaround Times (TATs) for all city-level approvals. We must hold provincial and hospital partners accountable for the 5-year delay.
🏠

A Common Sense approach to RRL

We need practical enforcement, lower bureaucracy, and fair policies that support responsible landlords while addressing real community concerns.

The Facts & The Fix +
The Problem: The City is planning to hire 58 new employees just to administer this program, creating an additional financial burden for Brampton residents. We need practical enforcement focused on real violations — not more bureaucracy and administrative layers.

Keval's Solution: I will fight to reform the RRL in its current form.

One-Time License Proposal: Rental licenses should not require yearly renewals unless there is a major change to the property or ownership. Annual renewals only create unnecessary paperwork and extra costs for small landlords while also increasing administrative work for the City.

A better approach would be a voluntary “Certified Safe” registry with a one-time registration that remains valid unless the property is deregistered due to violations. This encourages responsible landlords while reducing bureaucracy and red tape.

Complaint-based Enforcement : Focus on complaint-based enforcement of existing property standards and overcrowding rules to target actual violators.

Educate Before Fining: Landlords should be given a reasonable opportunity to correct tenant-related issues before facing penalties. A 30-day grace period for matters such as unauthorized subletting would encourage compliance, fairness, and cooperation instead of immediate punishment.

Standard Insurance: Remove the proposed $2 million liability insurance requirement and allow standard homeowner insurance policies with appropriate rental coverage instead. This will reduce unnecessary costs for landlords while still maintaining adequate protection and compliance.
⚖️

Police Budget Value

Demanding accountability for the $837M annual spend. We need more frontline visibility, not more administrative expansion.

The Facts & The Fix +
The Problem: We are paying nearly $837 million annually for policing in our region, yet auto thefts and community safety continue to remain major concerns for residents. People deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods and confident that public funds are delivering effective results.

Keval's Solution: I will advocate for a comprehensive **Value for Money Audit** of the police budget. We must ensure that our dollars are stopping crime on the street rather than funding back-office growth.

Brampton taxpayers are tired of being told everything is fine while their bills go up and their streets feel less safe. It's time for a councillor who speaks the truth and fights for you

Ward 2 & 6 Problems

❄️

Snow Removal

Why do residents have to shovel the snow after every snowstorm? I know how you feel because I feel the same. What's the point of paying the highest property tax when services are cutting corners.

🚦

Traffic congestion

Like many residents in Brampton, I spend far too much time commuting every day because the right infrastructure has not been developed for our neighborhoods. Better infrastructure, smarter planning, and stronger local economic development must become a priority for Wards 2 and 6.

🏫

Schools

Many children in Brampton are forced to travel outside their neighborhoods for school while others continue studying in portable classrooms. Our growing community deserves proper school infrastructure and better long-term planning for our children.

🚗

Auto Insurance

We are paying one of the highest Auto Insurance in our neighborhood. If we are paying so high on the police budget we need frontline visibility, not more administrative expansion.
